Is DNA = Karma?

Scientists say that DNA is a code for the whole body. The human body looks so complicated with so many organs functioning together in sync with each other. And it is surprising to see that the whole body and its organs is dictated by how the DNA is. This looks so surprising, that there are little machine inside our cells, which replicate the DNAs and the cells get divided, and an embryo transforms into baby and it then transforms in a man. The body structure, and its organs are all coded in the DNA.

Is DNA = Karma?
Since DNA affects us so much, it seems that it may be the karma. And also there are some sites in DNA, which are called Genes, which contribute in our body changes, and so many sites which does not seem to be useful. The 'not so useful' sites seem to be similar to 'Visrasopachaya parmanu - विस्रसोपचय परमाणु', as described in the Yoga Margana in Gommatsaar Jeevakaand Ji. However it turns out that DNA can not be Karma. Here are the reasons for that:
1. When a living body dies, the Karma gets flown along with the soul to its new body. If DNA had been karma, it would have flown along with the soul- but DNA remains with the dead body.
2. Plants have DNA, but water, fire etc do not have DNA, while water and fire itself are living beings.
3. Karma particles are too small to be DNA. DNAs are in the range of 20-24 A, while karma particles are really really minute.

If Karma is not DNA, and DNA seems to be doing lot of things which Karma is supposed to do. So the question is how DNA and karma are related?

How Karma and DNA are related:
1. It seems that Karma particles modify the DNA which one inherits from the parents.
2. There are 8 types of karma, and it seems DNA does most of things which Naam Karma is supposed to do. So it seems some types of Naam Karma are responsible in constructing/modifying the DNA.

Insights in Karma, from the learning of DNA:
- DNA and its surrounding seems to be making a complicated machine to build the whole body. And DNA seems to be constructed/shaped by the Naam Karma. Now all types of karma does not seem to follow the same pattern. Gyanavarni, DarshanaVarni, Antaraya and mohania karma does not seem to be making machines, as Naam karma seems to be.

On Spiritual front (Analogy of Karma with DNA):
As there is DNA which dictates so many things - so we have Gyanavarni etc 8 karmas which, if similar to DNA, would have active and passive sites- which affect our gyaan etc 8 things. The site can be categorized in 3 ways:
1. Passive Sites: Sites which are passive- These are 'Visrasopachaya parmanu - विस्रसोपचय परमाणु'
2. Dormant Sites: Sites which will be active after some duration- These are karma which will be in rise after some duration, and would come with some intensity.
3. Active Sites: Sites which are active now- There are karma in Udaya, and would become passive, once they have given their effect.

Why does karma bind to soul:

From the scriptures- when the soul does kashaya it attracts the karam vaargana according to its Raaga-Dwesha. So from my DNA analogy above, it seems that the kashaya of soul works on all 3 sites as follows:
1. Passive Sites: Passive sites become active, which is called Bandh.
2. Dormant sites: Their duration and intensity may change, which is called Utkarshan and Apkarshan.
3. Active sites: Active sites may not be able to show their effect, or show their effect more than they were supposed depending on current kashaya and conditions.

So it seems our kashaya is responsible for all the things which are happening with us. Kashay bring karma, and which in turns affect our knowledge, emotions, body, surroundings etc.

How to get rid of karma:

The way to get rid of karma is to get detached- to not have any Kashaya. Lets see how getting no kashaya may help getting rid of karma with DNA analogy:
1. Passive Sites: Passive sites remain passive. Since there is no kashaya- so there is nothing which make them dormant or active.
2. Dormant Sites: This seems to be making an interesting case. When one does Kashaya, the dormant sites' intensity and time-to-activate increases, and when one stops kashaya, the domant sites' intensity and time-to-activate decreases. So in order for dormant to remain the same way, it needs some level of Kashaya by soul- and if that kashaya does not happen- the dormant sites starts becoming passive.
3. Active Sites: The acitve sites for Mohaniya do not result in much, when someone is trying to not have kashaya. This is valid only if Active sites not have great intensity. If they have high intensity, then the soul is not able to remain in no-kashaya state.

Open questions in DNA:

These are open questions I have- some specialist in DNA field may have answers.
1. Does all cells in a livng being have same DNA?
2. When we eat something, we are eating new DNA's. In that case how does it work out- dooesn't it clash with our exisiting DNAs?
3. How does DNA medicines work- do they repair all the DNAs in the body. Or just for some limited DNAs?
4. DNA come from our parents. However some living beings just get created in atmosphere. For example: In my dry lentils box- I see some small living beings get created, while they did not have any parents. How do their DNA get build in this case when they do not have parents or egg?
5. DNA of a person comes from parents- however for some persons, their body and interests does not completely relate at all with his parents and forefathers. Is Science able to answer that- or there are no answers till now?

My trip to exhibition 'Body World'

I went to the exhibition Body World - 2 in San Jose tech museum on 05, Jan, 2008- and it was a great experience. Some people get enchanted to see the beauty which lies inside the complicated human body, and some realize how mortal our body is, and ponder over the relation between the soul and the body, and how body get evolved so complicated.

What does exhibition show:
The exhibition show the real internal organs of humans, and also some animals like horse. The following things were shown in the exhibition:

1. Bones: The whole skeleton was displayed which showed around 200 bones in human body and around 100 joints. Hands, knee joints, joints in legs were showen separately for a better insight.

2. Muscular system: Triceps, biceps, shoulder muscles and other muscles were shown.

3. Internal organs: Internal organs like kidney, stomach, small intestine, heart, spleen, liver, big intestine, kidney etc were shown. For a better understanding, they cut across organs to display the internals. For example to show the internal large surface area of small intestine, they cut it open and displayed.

4. Diseased organs: They displayed- a smokers lung which looked black. Also many organs infected with tumour etc were displayed.

5. Nervous system: The nerves were shown, which run from brain to almost every part of body. Interestingly, heart has its own little nervous system.

6. Internal Systems: There were separate bodies and organs displayed to explain digestion, urine and other systems.

How did the displayed human bodies come from:
The human bodies were made from a Plastination process, which is developed by Gunther von Hagens. . The Plastinization is explained at http://www.bodyworlds.com/en/plastination/method_plastination.html.

What I learnt from the exhibition:

I essentially started appreciating the complexity of human body. With this appreciation, came the following learnings:

Relation between body and soul: The story of a body starts when a soul enters a new little body, and later body gets developed in a big complicated system. The question arises- how body gets developed in such a complicated system of multiple organs functioning together. The code for the body seems to be the DNA, as scientists find. And religion says- it is karma. There has to be reconcilation here in these two point of views. One case may be - The karma dictates which parent should one take birth with- and that recoinciles karma and DNA. DNA is at the level of 1/(10 power -10), which is actually far bigger than karma particles. So it seems karma lies at the core which dictates, which parent to chose, and once the parents are chosen, how its DNA would be different than the parents. (I will update this once I have more knowledge on DNA.)

Karma are more complicated than the body: Body is what we see from outside, and it internally has a very complicated system. And the code of this complicated system lies in Karma. And actually karma's job is not to just form the body, but actually it is responsible for lot more things than just the body. Karma influences our relationship with people around, our finances, job, our intelligence, our emotions in general, our accidents in life, our good times and bad times in life, our age, our reputation in society and friends, our interest toward religion and lot many things. There Karma has lot more information, and part of it is encoding for the body.

What lies behind karma: Behind Karma lies emotions- the emotions to have something, to not have something. In other words- to hate, anger, greed, deceipt, attraction, laughter, jealousy etc. The emotions has multiple types, and one keeps doing it continuosly, and continously bringing more karma, and also changing the exisited bound karma.

Body changes as Karma changes (partial statement): Body forms with the influence of Karma, however we should not think that karma stops its role, once the body is formed. The karma still influences and bring changes to its body. For example, we can see - when someone starts worshipping God, his health starts getting better. This comes from making karma better, which brings changes in body. However there can be changes to some extent- it definitely can not cure amputed hands.

Karma changes as emotion changes: As body changes, our karma also changes. It brings difference to karma getting influxed, and also to the bound karma.

All above process seems so strange and weird, but its true.

Another angle: Structure inside the plants(onion), and other animals: Though the exhibition shows the internal of human body after plastinizationm, which takes a whole lot of dedicated research and many research man years for such a dedication. However there are many living beings we can see without that process. For example- plants - we can see it inside. How onions, cucumber, cashew nuts and other plants look from inside. The have also a structure inside, which agains stems from DNA, karma, and links to their emotions in previous births. In contrast to human, they have different color, smell etc.
